MyHutan Summit

The MyHutan Summit was a place where the Malaysian youth were able to learn from and meet experts and leading organisations in the field of environmental conservation! Various presentations, discussions and forums with experts in fields such as indigenous advocacy, art and environmental law were held at this conference.

Panelists
Heng Kiah Chun
Heng Kiah Chun is a campaigner at Greenpeace Malaysia. He coordinated the imported plastic waste pollution campaign with Greenpeace from 2018 to 2021. He is now active in the campaign dealing with air pollution and the transboundary haze issues as well as many other environmental campaigns with Greenpeace Malaysia .
Damien Thanamc
Damien Thanam is the President of Pertubuhan Pelindung Khazanah Alam (PEKA). As an environmental activist, he has long campaigned for more comprehensive forest conservation and has spoken out against Malaysian authorities on ineffective conservation policies and weak enforcement of logging laws. Apart from forest conservation, he and PEKA have also been very vocal on the issues of recycling and illegal dumping as well as various other environmental issues in Malaysia.
Dato' Ambiga Sreenevasan
Dato' Ambiga Sreenevasan is the former President of the Malaysian Bar Council as well as the former Chairman of the Clean and Fair Election Coalition (BERSIH). She is now an activist who speaks out on issues regarding human rights, indigenous rights and also women and children.

Mohmaed Nur Ridzwan is a member of the Team Selangor Environment Unit, a volunteer and community group with the aim of providing exposure about volunteering and civic responsibility and developing the Selangor community to the public.
Mohd Yusaimi Md Yusof
Mohd Yusaimi Md Yusof is the President of Pertubuhan Alam Sejahtera Sejahtera (GRASS Malaysia), a non-governmental organization established specifically to raise awareness on caring for the environment to ensure a more sustainable way of life for the global community.

Siti Kasim is a lawyer and a human rights and freedom of expression advocate in Malaysia. She is an native rights advocate and is experienced in the field of advocacy, including advocating for land rights and native customary rights.

Dr. Gary Theseira
Dr Gary Theseira is a member of the Climate Governance Malaysia council and is also a former Special Duties Officer at the Office of the Minister of Energy, Science, Technology and Climate Change. He has over 10 years of experience in the field of climate change and sustainable policy formulation in Malaysia.
Dr. Irini Ibrahim
Dr Irini Ibrahim is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam. She has expertise in the field of Environmental, Constitutional and Criminal Law and has written several articles published in leading legal journals in Malaysia.
Kiu Jia Yaw
Jia Yaw started working with the Malaysian Bar Council in 2004. He served as Deputy Chairman of the Bar Council's Environment and Climate Change Committee. He is also a member of the secretariat for the All-Party Malaysia on the Sustainable Development Goals (APPGM-SDG) Parliamentary Group. Additionally, he is an advisor to organizations that serve for sustainable development, youth participation and environmental justice.

National Youth Climate Consultation

The National Youth Climate Consultation was a stage for young people to voice their opinions and propose national environmental and climate change policies to fight the climate crisis!
It was opened to experts, activists, and the general public to discuss and exchange views on relevant national policy statistics to face the various challenges of climate change that are now increasingly threatening the world.
